I learned this technique only recently as part of a pranayama workshop. I didn’t notice the promoted “cooling” effect when first introduced to it, but last week when I was stuck inside a crowded broken down commuter train for more than an hour in record 100 degree temps, I gave it a try. Not only did it keep me cool (I barely broke a sweat), it helped me remain calm while others around me were red-faced and visibly irate. Try it the next time you’re hot and bothered.
